  WS: (Digital) editing of pre-modern translations

  Translations are texts in their own right, at the same time they keep their source texts more or less present. How do you deal with this situation in an edition? What are the requirements, challenges and opportunities of editing translations? What are possibilities for analysis and presentation offered by digital editing? And finally: Are there specific requirements for the field of pre-modern translations?

   

  This workshop will deal with questions of (digital) editing of pre-modern translations, focussing on reports and examples from specific projects and editing projects. The focus will be on questions relating to the practical work of editing with support of digital systems (e.g. Transkribus), as well as on the requirements for annotation and commentaries, as well as the exchange and practical testing of editing tools. Also very welcome are philological considerations on text production and presentation as well as methodological-theoretical reflections on the editorial handling of early modern translations, especially from the field of translation studies.
